NEWS UPDATE :: January 2017 ::

Morris will perform on Saturday January 14th at the Southampton Arts Center, 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton, NY 11968.

The theme of the concert is South of the Border, the Latin side of Charlie Parker, and will include some of Morris's compositions as well.

The line-up consists of Morris alto sax and pennywhistle, Diego Urcola(Paquito deRivera) trumpet, Marcus McLaurine(Clark Terry) bass, Bill Smith piano, Cristian Rivera percussion, Claes Brondal drums. The concert runs from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be refreshments.

Morris will be appearing at the Bitter End on Thursday, December 17th. Bakithi Kumalo bass, Morris sax and pennywhistle, David Bravo keys, Mauricio Zottarelli drums. They will play one set from 7 to 8.30 p.m. The Bitter End is located on Bleecker street in Greenwich Village.

On January 23rd 2016 Morris will perform at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, Scotland.

On Friday May 8th, Morris will perform with Bill Smith, Maciek Schejbal and Jorge Mesa, at Wolffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack (east of Bridgehamton) from 5 to 8 p.m. This is part of the Candlelight Fridays series.

On May 20th Morris will play for the Lalela Foundation annual dinner and fundraiser. This will take place at Madiba Harlem, 46 west 116th street. Book your table soon. Its for a good cause.

Morris, Bakithi Kumalo, David Bravo and Wayne Dunton will be appearing at the official opening of Madiba Harlem restaurant on Thursday December 11th at 7 p.m. Madiba Harlem is located at 116th street and 5th Avenue.

Morris will be appearing, along with Bakithi Kumalo, Anton Fig, David Bravo and Lesedi Tsane, at Madiba restaurant, on Sunday, December 15th. They will take part in the vigil and memorial service for Nelson Mandela. The evening kicks off at around 6 p.m. Madiba restaurant is located corner of De Kalb and Carlton Avenues, Brooklyn. NEWS UPDATE :: May 2013 ::

Morris and Ojoyo will perform at the Wolffer Wine Stand in Sagaponack NY. on Saturday June 1st, from 5.30 until 8.30 p.m. Directions:- Go through Bridgehampton on rte 27. The wine stand is about 100 yards past the next traffic light on the left, on rte 27.
This takes place outdoors. If the weather is bad, we will play in the main building on Wolffer Estate in Sagaponack.

Morris Goldberg and Ojoyo will perform at Duck Walk North on Saturday February 16th, at 4.30 p.m. This concert is part of the Long Island Winter Jazzfest, which takes place at wineries on the North Fork of Long Island from February 9th until March 17th The band consists of Bakithi Kumalo bass, David Bravo keyboards, Mark Portugal drums, Morris Goldberg sax, clarinet, pennywhistle.

NEWS UPDATE :: June 2012 ::

Morris is traveling to South Africa to play the Standard Bank Jazz Festival in Grahamstown. He will play one set on Saturday June 30th,
a workshop and another set on Sunday July 1st. The band consists of Anton Fig drums, Rashid Lanie keyboards, Emanuel, Chulo, Gatewood on bass. Thanks to many sponsors, including the Standard Bank and the American Embassy in South Africa. After Grahamstown he travels to Cape Town, where he will perform in the City Hall as part of the Winter Jazz Series. Morris will be the guest artist with a ten piece band under the musical direction of Kesivan Naidoo, a young up and coming drummer. The group will perform a variety of material, including two of Morris' compositions. Thanks to Steve Gordon. He wraps up the mini- tour with a gig at Kaleidoscope, a club in Claremont, and a Sunday Jazz Brunch with drummer friend Maurice Gawronsky at the Winchester Hotel.
On Saturday July 21st Morris will play a concert at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons, 44 Woods Lane, East Hampton, at 8 p.m. This show features Tsidii Leloka vocals, Nina Hennessey vocals, Anton Fig drums, Emanuel Gatewood bass, David Bravo keyboards. Morris will play saxophone, clarinet and pennywhistle. The material spans Broadway, Safrojazz, and some ethnic surprises. Thanks to Pierre and Idee Schoenheimer, sponsors.
On Saturday June 9th Morris assembled a "Super Band" to perform at the Fieldstone Jazz Festival, produced by Neville and Velma Grusd.
On hand to perform were John DiMartino keyboard, Peter Weiss bass, Mark Portugal drums, Max Feldschuh vibes, Laren Kinhan vocals, and Morris on sax, clarinet and pennywhistle. The show was a huge success.

Morris will be playing at Pierre's restaurant in Bridgehampton, from 6.30 until 9.30 p.m. with Peter Weiss bass, Jane Hastay piano. They will play jazz standards and music from the American Songbook.

Friday, Feb 24th 2012
Morris will perform at Wolffer Estate winery, Sagg Road, Sagaponac, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Free, wine by the glass or bottle. Morris on sax, clarinet, pennywhistle, Bill Smith kybd, Jorge Mesa bass. This is part of their Candlelight Fridays series.

Sunday March 4th
Morris will perform at Raphael Winery, 39390 Main Road, rte 25, Peconic, NY 11958 tel 631 765 1100. The "Super Band" will include Randy Brecker, Lew Soloff trumpets, Ada Rovatti Jim Campagnola and myself saxes, Claes Brondal drums, Bryan Campbell guitar, Rashid Lanie kybd, Peter Weiss bass. The concert, which is part of the Long Island Winter festival, will run from 4.30 p.m. until 6.30 p.m.

Saturday March 10th
Morris will perform with OJOYO, playing his original South African influenced jazz compositions. The venue is Duck Walk North, 44535 Main Road rte 25 Southold NY 11971. The band features Bakithi Kumalo bass, Rashid Lanie kybd, Mark Portugal drums. The band will play from 4.30 p.m. until 6.30 p.m. This is also part of the Long Island Winterfest.

NEWS UPDATE :: November 2011 ::

On November 10th, Morris performed at a benefit for the Bay Street Theatre and the "Jazz Jam" which is held every Thursday, and is housed at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor during the winter months. In the summer the jam is held at the Bayburger restaurant. The personnel consisted of Randy Brecker trumpet, Ada Ruvatti tenor and soprano sax, Jim Campagnola tenor and baritone sax, Rashid Lanie and Bill Smith keyboards, Peter Weiss bass, Bryan Campbell guitar, Claes Brondal drums, Max Feldshu vibes. NEWS UPDATE :: October 2011 ::

On October 30th Morris performed at the Sag Harbor Music Festival with Randy Brecker trumpet, Ada Ruvatti tenor sax, Jim Campagnola tenor and baritone sax, Jeff Golub guitar, Anton Fig drums, Bette Sussman keyboards, Peter Weiss bass. The singer Monica Mancini was the other attraction. The concert, at the Bay Street Theatre, was sold out and enthusiastically received.

NEWS UPDATE :: July 2011 ::

Morris Goldberg and Ojoyo will be performing in concert on July 23rd at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons - 44 Woods Lane East Hampton. The band will play Safrojazz (South African flavored jazz). Three singers include Kaissa from Cameroon, paying homage to Miriam Makeba, Nina Hennessey singing songs from Broadway, and Shunna Pillay singing some special material, including songs from a musical we have written. The show starts at 8 p.m. and admission is FREE. Band members include Morris Goldberg sax, clarinet, pennywhistle, Emanuel (Chulo) Gatewood bass, Anton Fig drums, David Bravo keyboards.

On Tuesday June 22nd Morris will be performing with Tsidii LeLoka at the City Winery 155 Varick Street NY NY 10013 at 7.30 p.m.

On Saturday June 26th Morris will perform with Anton Fig, Tony Cedras, and Ramon de Bruyn at the Fort Greene Festival on de Kalb Avenue in Brooklyn. Later that evening they will move to Madiba restaurant to perform. Christine will be a guest artist at both venues.

NEWS UPDATE :: May 2010 ::

On April 12th Morris contracted sixteen singers to record music with a full orchestra for ESPN's World Cup program on television. You can catch it on ESPN during their commercial breaks.

On May 5th Morris performed at the Power Station in Battersea Park London with Hugh Masekela. The event was a fund raiser for the Ubuntu Education Foundation.

You will find Morris at SOB's New York on Sunday May 16th. He will be performing with Christine Vaindirlis in honor of the World Cup.

On July 17th Morris will once again give a concert at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons. The concert will feature Nina Hennessey, Tsidii LeLoka, Shunna Pillay, Anton Fig, Emanuel Gatewood and others. Admission is free

On Friday July 24th Morris will be performing with South African singer songwriter Sid Kitchen. The show will take place at Joe's Pub in Greenwich Village. Ojoyo will be performing in concert at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons, 44 Woods Lane East Hampton 11937 on Saturday July 18th at 8 p.m. The Ojoyo group consists of Anton Fig drums, Chulo Gatewood bass, David Bravo keyboards and Morris Goldberg sax, clarinet and pennywhistle. We will feature two singers:- Tsidii Leloka(Lion King) and Nina Hennessey(Cats and more, plus Bye Bye Birdie in the Fall). There will also be a surprise guest! The concert is FREE, so do come early.

NEWS UPDATE :: October 2008 ::

On July 19th Morris presented a concert of wide ranging music at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton. The concert featured Kaissa and Nina Hennessey on vocals, Anton Fig drums, Chulo Gatewood bass, David Bravo keyboard, Morris on clarinet,saxophone and pennywhistle. We performed original music, songs from Broadway, songs made popular by Miriam Makeba and secular and religious songs. The concert was enthusiastically received.

From July 23rd until August 12th Morris went on tour with Hugh Masekela, performing at the premier jazz clubs on the west coast. It was hugely successful. A listing is posted.

The next project was something new for Morris. He contracted and performed with a band for Lebo Morake, known as LeboM. Lebo wrote all the African music for the Broadway hit "The Lion King". The project involved a seven piece band plus four backup singers, with Lebo singing lead vocals. The concert in Virginia was a huge success, and there will be more of those in the future.

NEWS UPDATE :: April 2008 ::

On April 27th Morris will play at Madiba restaurant in honor of South African Freedom Day. On Saturday July 19th Morris will perform at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in a concert of music from Broadway to Soweto, from Cape Town to Cameroon, featuring Kaissa, Nina Hennessey, Anton Fig, Tony Cedras and Chulo Gatewood. The show, at 44 Woods Lane in East Hampton, starts at 8 p.m.

NEWS UPDATE :: February 2008 ::

Morris will be performing with Hugh Masekela in Hawaii on Feb 27, 28 and March 1st. Three concerts on three islands. On April 9th to 13th Morris will perform with Hugh Masekela at Brooklyn Academy of Music (5 days), as part of Paul Simon's retrospective. Tony Cedras keyboard, Ian Herman drums and Fana Zulu bass will participate as well. The rest of april will consist of touring the country. An itinerary will be posted soon.

In the summer Morris and Ojoyo will once again concertize at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons. Featured are:- Tony Cedras keyboard, Anton Fig drums, Chulo Gatewood bass, from Cameroon, Kaissa vocals, from Broadway ( Cats etc) Nina Hennessey vocals. The group will perform Ojoyo originals, Hebrew songs, plus songs made popular by Miriam Makeba, plus songs from Broadway. "From Cameroon to Cape Town, from Tel Aviv to Times Square, from Soweto to Soho" The date is July 19th, Saturday at 8 p.m.

NEWS UPDATE :: January 2008 ::

Morris and Tony Cedras played a lunch hour concert at Waubonsee Community College in Aurora, just outside of Chicago, on October 25th. On October 26th, Ojoyo, which included Morris, Tony, Ian Herman on drums and Chulo Gatewood on bass, played a concert at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth Minn. The show was well received. On Tuesday November 13th, Ojoyo played for the Acumen Foundation Gala at Bridgewaters in New York City. About 450 people attended this private function. Morris, Tony, Anton Fig and Bakithi Kumalo will play a holiday concert on Sunday Dec. 9th at Madiba retaurant in Brooklyn. This will be their last appearance for 2007. Happy and healthy New Year everyone.

Morris Goldberg performed at New York City Center with Hugh Masekela and ensemble. The concert was presented by National Geographic Traveler and the South African Tourism Board.

In September 2005 Morris took part in the filming of The Good Shepherd, a film
directed by Robert DeNiro, starring Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon. He was a
member of the band, playing the saxophone.
